Did you know that Madrid was a relatively small town, practically unknown outside of Spain before the year 1561?  The city’s fortunes changed that year when it burst upon the scene of European politics by becoming the permanent capital of Spain.  The dynasty at the head of this change was known as the Habsburgs, a family that ruled the country and much of the known world from the 16th to the 18th century, and who were referred to in Spain as the House of Austria.

We will meet at the entrance of the UC3M building (Puerta Toledo) at 18:30. From this point, we will be divided into groups for a walk tour. The duration is approximately 90 minutes. Once finished, we will stop in front of the Royal Palace and pick up the conference buses to the Gala Dinner venue (Casa de Burgos).

Those not attending the walking tour can use the conference buses anyway. The meeting point will at 20:00 on this location.

Another option to get the Gala Dinner venue is by metro (line 10 stop 'Lago' or line 6 stop 'Puerta del Angel').

After the dinner, buses will be available and they will stop at "Plaza de España" and "Puerta Toledo".
