Leonel Sousa (PhD Symposium Co-chair)
Leonel Sousa received the PhD degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, Portugal, in 1996, and has made sabbatical visits to the Delft University of Technology, Carnegie Mellon University, and University of Tsukuba . He is currently a full professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at IST and a senior researcher at INESC-ID. His research interests include computer architectures, high-performance computer, and embedded systems. He has contributed to more than 300 papers in journals and international conferences. He has contributed to the organization of several conferences (e.g, Euro-Par 2021, FPL 2020 and FPL 2023, IEEE ARITH 2021), and give invited talks in some of them. He was Associate Editor of the Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology, and IEEE Access. He is currently Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Computers, IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing, and Senior Editor of the IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems. Dr. Leonel Sousa is a Fellow of the IET, a Distinguished Scientist of the ACM, and an IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Contributor.
